NEW!!!
FEARLESS releases this May.
When a nine-year-old Louisa mysteriously appears in the middle of a house fire with no memory of how she got there or where she came from, Jim and Amy Spencer agree to take her in. Wrestling with the recent loss of their own child, they soon discover Louisa has a special gift. But when the same gift unknowingly puts her in contact with a serial killer, the grieving couple must unite to face all odds and save themselves and Louisa before it’s too late.
A Thousand Sleepless Nights, is the first story I wrote under a pseudonym, Michael King. Why the break from my normal fare of tightly-wound suspense? I had a story I needed to tell.
Back in 2008 I was diagnosed with colon cancer. That’s the sort of thing that changes your life, alters the way you see the world, time, moments, others, everything. I’m not the same person I used to be.
So I needed to write a story about cancer and the battle it rages and the good that can come of it. And that’s how the idea for A Thousand Sleepless Nights was born. I hope you’ll check it out. It’s a story that’s straight from my heart and infused with so much of my own experience with cancer. If you’ve been touched by cancer in any way, either personally or through the life of a friend or loved one, you need to read this story. You can find out more here.
MIRROR IMAGE, is a short story I co-wrote with Aaron Reed. Last year Aaron won a contest to write a short story with me.
At only $0.99 it’s a great way to sample my writing. Written in an Alfred Hitchcock-esque style, it dares you to figure out the ending.
Sometimes, things aren’t what they seem. Sometimes, they’re much worse.
When Dennis, a loner with a wounded past, discovers he looks identical to author Joshua Norton he convinces himself that Norton is living a life he doesn’t deserve. Curiosity takes a dark turn when Dennis begins obsessing over Norton’s seemingly perfect life and eventually plots to switch places with the undeserving author. But reality isn’t always what it appears to be and what Dennis finds isn’t exactly what he expected.
Don’t miss this story!
Also, check out my novella, Rearview, part of the 7 Hours series. It’s only $1.99 on Amazon and has received some very good reviews. It’s fast-paced, intriguing, and also written in the style of those old Alfred Hitchcock tales. I think you’ll enjoy it.
In addition to my writing, I offer coaching/consulting services and am available to speak on a variety of topics including writing, living well, and surviving cancer/trials.

Finished THE HUNTED! Great job… Started THE SCREAM Sunday… THE SREAM rocked. Awesome job! Honestly, a God send! Thanks! Off to buy the others…
Wow, thanks, Justin. So glad you enjoyed the books. Thanks for the comment.
I do have to say that I dreamt last night that I was held hostage in a Dodge Colt in the middle of a field with three others. The abductors were searching the car for a evidential cassette tape which I managed to slip from the car and eventually under the vehicle into the tall grass before we pulled away. They gave up and somehow freed us… however, the miracle is how we managed to get myself, three other adult victims and three large criminals in a Dodge Colt.
Guess I’ll have to watch how much Dellosso I take in before bedtime.
Blessings!
I thought I had all of Mike’s books. Did he write one called “Sons of God?” If so, where can I fine it?
Robert, I forgot to reply to your email. Sorry. Sons of God was a book I wrote when I was just getting into fiction writing. I published it through a publisher who was not what I thought they were. I was very unhappy with the finished product, the price, the editing, and other things but was bound by a contract. In my humble opinion, the story is mediocre, the writing just isn’t up to par. That’s why I don’t promote it. I don’t want people reading it as the first of my books they ever read and getting the wrong impression. I’m not that writer anymore

When is your new book come out? I am on your new book now loved the other ones. I love your books and can’t wait for your new one to come out!
Brittany, Frantic comes out in Feb, 2012. It’s a wild ride, too. Glad you’re enjoying the books. Thanks for the encouragement!
just wanted to say I just got through reading Scream and i loved it!
Mr. Dellosso,
. Then i read the forward. you battled cancer.. my wife had breast cancer, so I can sort of relate but not really. Then i came to the part were you said your 7 year old daughter has been diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. That rang in my head like a bell in the national cathedral.
My sister gave me a copy of your book Darlington Woods for Christmas. She met you at a writers conference and got it autographed. I collect autographed books and read ferociously so it was a good bet. It is May and it came to the top of my pile and so I began. Now I read cover to cover. I read the copyright page, any similarity to reality is coincidence, dont reproduce etc. I read acknowledgements, was pleased with the last
I was compelled to do what I have never done before – write to an author.
I haven’t read the book yet, I stopped where I was, walked away from my lunch (I read while I eat, often my only time) and here I am.
The reason I write is that I too was diagnosed with arthritis at the age of 8. Back then (1964) they didn’t call it juvenile because kids just didn’t get it. I was an experiment for the doctors. They brought interns in to see me in my hospital bed. I walked down the hall of my school with my knee so swollen I couldn’t straighten my leg only to be told by my teachers to straighten up and quite clowning around.
Sometimes at night I would whimper in my bed because the pain was so great for such a small person but I did not want to wake mom and dad work had worked all day and needed sleep. Experimental drugs were tried out on me, some highly addictive, and then I would have to go through withdrawal.
Because it was feared that harsh activity might cause further damage, I wasn’t allowed to play sports and was excluded from many of the activities that my friends and classmates were able to enjoy. And I know my parents were scared to death even as you are now.
But let me tell you one great thing. Our God is an awesome God. A God of healing and of hope. I am 56 now. Other than a couple of flair ups in my 20′s I haven’t been bothered by it since I was a late teen. Oh, I am a little stiff in the mornings when I wake up, but what 56 year old isn’t (chuckles to self here). I was a youth pastor for many years and not one of my youth was ever able to out race or out work me. I pastor 2 churches these days and I can’t let few aches and pains get me down. But I truely believe that if I had not learned to fight the monsters at an early age I probably wouldn’t be prepared for the ones I face today.
Your daughter has a tough road ahead, as do you. But God is faithful even when we are crying out why me Lord? And there are blessing upon blessings when the battle is won.
I don’t know why I am here writing this but I will pray for you as fervently as I prayed for myself in those days gone by. And I look forward to reading the book even more because I know about monsters in the dark that don’t hide under the bed but wrap themselves around you as if they will never let go.
In Christ’s service
Tim
Rev. Middleton, I realize your words were to Mike, but please know that you have touched this mother’s heart. I, too, have a daughter who has been diagonised with JRA. That along with an unthinkable event this past year have brought those “monsters” out of the dark and into our everyday lives as well. Thank you for your encouraging words that I’m sure will touch many. Looking forward to reading 7!
Tim, thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I’m going to email you privately with some other thoughts . . .
Mike: I have enjoyed ALL of your books so far. You inspire me and set my imagination flowing. Your creativity truly is a gift from God. To date you and Frank Peretti are my favorite authors! When can we expect your next book?
Wow, thanks Raul. Frank Peretti . . . that’s great company to be in. Can I ask you to please consider writing up some reviews for Amazon? Just a few sentences is enough. Every little bit helps to spread the word, you know?
Mike, I’d be happy too!!
I love your books Mike, I can’t wait to read them all. Here is my post on you for my project, Crafting the Creeps through Fiction: Questions for Authors Who Do It Best. Hope you like it! Thanks so much for the fast response!
I started reading your books a few months ago. The first one I read was The Hunted. I would stay up until the wee hours of the morning trying to read more and then be too freaked out to go to sleep, so I would try and read some more. After that, I read Darlington Woods and again was freaked out by how awesome it was!! I’m actually about to read it again! I’m going to ask the library to buy more of your books because I simply must read them! In fact, Darlington Woods and The Hunted are on my books to buy list! You’ve also inspired me to write again. To be specific, Darlington Woods inspired a book in my head; needless to say, I wrote down the thoughts that popped in my head so that I wouldn’t forget them. I’ve never seen books like yours Mike. Your books will have a special spot on my bookshelf, right next to my favorite author Brian Jacques (RIP).
Wow, Chelsea, I’m so glad you’re enjoying the books. Please let me know what you think of the other ones. And if you feel so inclined, please write up a little review for Amazon. Thanks for helping to spread the word too. Every little bit helps
Blessings to you!
Not a problem. I tell all of my friends about your books. I absolutely love them! I’m soo looking forward to reading more of them. I just the library already had them. I hope that you continue writing for a very long time; you’re among my top favorite authors. Seriously, you’re sitting with Ted Dekker, Brian Jacques, Kathryn Lasky, Alton Gansky and Bryan Davis. Love your books!
Oh, I went to Amazon to write up the review, but only customers that have made a certain amount of purchases can write them. I have never bought anything from Amazon. I am going to check other book sites, such as Barnes and Noble, Books-a-Million and even my library, to see if I can post a review on one of their sites. If I can’t, I will keep spreading the word! I will tell the youth at my church. I’m also a homeschool graduate, so I know lots of people.
No worries!
Blessings on you!
Thanks, Chelsea. Great to hear you were homeschooled too. We homeschool our daughters!
Just finished reading THE HUNTED. Wonderfully written. Scary too. I was almost afraid to go to sleep. I’m off to buy SCREAM.
Great, Beverly! Thanks for letting me know. So glad you enjoyed the story.
Mike:
I was contacted by Debbie Moss of Charisma about writing an endorsement for “A Thousand Sleepless Nights.” Here is the reply I sent her: “A Thousand Sleepless Nights is a poignant, cautionary story that is beautifully written, reminding us that any success achieved at the expense of our family comes at a high price. I was impressed by Mr. King’s (I assume this is your pen name) effective use of language to create visual images, which added a nice literary style to the novel without overshadowing its message. A touching and worthwhile read.”
–Darrel Nelson, author of The Anniversary Waltz and The Return of Cassandra Todd
Mike:
I was wondering what you would think about reading my manuscript, The Return of Cassandra Todd, and providing an endorsement (as Mike Dellosso). I realize I wrote an endorsement for you, but I don’t want you to feel obligated. It’s just that The Return of Cassandra Todd is similar to the genre you write as Mike Dellosso, and I would value your opinion. If you’re agreeable, I’ll email you the manuscript.

I’m a new Christian Supernatural author and I’m adding you to the authors we like page…
http://www.christalbotstories.wordpress.com/
Thanks, Chris! I’m honored to be in such great company.
two things;
Do you have an email? So you can maybe see what you think of my books?
and how do you post on a page that isnt your homepage on wordpress? Can’t figure that out.
Mike, I would like you to guest write on my website or newsletter. Would you be willing to write on a topic? I have several topics I would like guest writers on. Some of them include homosexuality, children from broken families, the end times, and others.
Nevermind, mike. I have enough guest writers, so i might get you for my next newsletter. That wont be until mid-November, so… thanks for writing great books!
Mr. Dellosso,
Though you’ve said you don’t rate Sons of God as high on your list of accomplishments, I find your story to be encouraging. My story is somewhat similar: my first novel was self-published and priced higher than I’d like by the printer, and I’m under contract for another year and a half or so. The book looks good and has actually collected several five-star reviews, though I can see now places that I could’ve written better. However, sales have proven to be extremely difficult.
What is encouraging to me is this: by all appearances, you also had a rocky start to your writing career, and yet you’ve succeeded, even thrived. I can see how God has blessed you in your writing. That tells me I don’t need to give up hope or be discouraged; I can make it too. You’re an inspiration through your writing, even in what you consider less than your best. I’m sure many others feel the same way.
Keep up the good work and God bless you.
Tony
Hello Mike, I would just like to say thank you and show my support for all the great books you have written. You are by far my favorite author of all time. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for your next book!
Thanks, Blake! Glad you enjoy the books. Fearless releases this May so watch for it. It’s another fast-paced thriller with a special twist
And THANK YOU for your support!
Just finished Sceam… My first Mike Dellosso novel… Looking forward to the next one.
I am sorry to say that I haven’t heard of you before. I actually found a graphic on another blog about how she was a member of The Darlington Society and was intrigued enough to click because Darlington is my grandmother’s maiden name. I will look at the library for your work.
I hope you find something there that intrigues you, Madonna. Thanks for looking me up and I’m glad you found my site!
Well Mike, since Wednesday, I sure have learned a lot about you! And I am looking for a new book to sink my teeth into…hummmm…wonder who the next author might be????
Hey, Mike:
As you may recall, a wrote you a couple of weeks ago in response to your first novel, Sons of God. I recently located a copy of it and have just finished reading it. I must say that I was very impressed, as I am with all your novels! I have all of them so far and I can’t wait for Fearless to be released, as you’ve quickly become one of my favorite fiction authors if not my absolute favorite!
I have a couple of questions concerning Sons of God, but I’d hate to spoil anything for other readers who haven’t read it yet. If you have time to email me privately, I’ll reply by asking them, unless you don’t mind me asking on here. Thanks and God bless you, Mike!

Hi Mike, I found you after I read all of Peretti and Dekker. I saw your first book (I think it was The Hunted), picked it up and was not disappointed. Read your books as they came out. Great stories! Thanks for delighting us! I have three daughters – so had some connection to you as well. Remember, those girls will naturally gravitate to a man that treats them as you treat your wife – kinda holds you to a higher standard, wouldn’t you say? Best Regards and keep on writing! How about a book about a guy who is totally sold out for Jesus – and he sacrifices everything. It’s a struggle for him, but at the end of his life, he gets a glimpse of the glorious plan!
Thanks for the comments, Scott. And yes, I think about the kind of men my girls will gravitate toward all the time and it is a high standard. A lot of pressure too
But good pressure. Thanks again for your encouraging words. I’m glad you’re enjoying the storied. Did you get my new short story being offered for free? Today is the last day. Mirror Image. http://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Image-ebook/dp/B00BXFAZ8S/. Check it out.
