Two More Poems by an Eight-Year-Old

For your reading pleasure, two more poems by my eight-year-old daughter. Remember when you were eight? The world was full of talking cats and make-believe words. Really, I have no idea where she gets this stuff from.

Have You Ever Heard of a Porse?

Have you ever heard of a porse?
My mom said it’s called a horse.
That doesn’t sound right.
I think of other names that rhyme like
Clorse, corse, borse, dorse,
But none of them match!
I’ll just stick with porse.

The Cat’s Hat

I have a cat who has a hat.
One day, the cat  said to the hat,
“Fly away.”
And it did.
I went after the hat
And it started to rain.
The hat fell so I picked it up.
There was a bird under it.
“Of course,” I said.
“Hats can’t really fly.”
Can they?
